season theme: Loss & Redemption
What do we keep & what do we cut?
In creating what is now Refracted Theatre Company, we spoke about finding the gray in the black and white, and how each season would present a push and pull, a dichotomy in which we find a nuanced bridge of perspective between two feelings or concepts. That is why, this year, our season will coalesce beneath a single prevailing theme: Loss and Redemption...what do we keep and what do we cut?
These days it’s very easy to feel like we are constantly losing ground, with our leadership, with each other, but also with ourselves. That can be incredibly frustrating. It can feel like there is so much we all want to do and so little we can do. Perhaps, the practice of letting go, cutting our losses, and claiming only that which is really important is the only way we can continue to show up for the fight. And at the same time, the imperative to allow ourselves and others to be redeemed, to come back, to be forgiven, is perhaps the only way we will survive together.
