Refracted Theatre Company is committed to the health and wellness of the Refracted Family: that includes both the artists we employ and the audience we serve. Below are the safety protocols that Refracted Theatre Company is committed to upholding in the wake of the Coronavirus/Covid-19 pandemic. This protocol will be closely regulated by our team and applied to all productions mounted between now and the state-wide reopening of theaters.
Refracted Theatre Company is committed to:
Health
Safety
Accessibility
Work From Home
For those artists working on our audio-theatrical series The Swell, the audio-play of Homeless Garden, or any future audio-driven projects, we encourage you to STAY HOME. If you do not have access to necessary equipment for the recording of audio at home, we will do our best to source material for you. This material will either be brand new and sent by the manufacturer or, in the case of alternatively sourced equipment, delivered promptly to your home by a Refracted Theatre Company representative who will take full responsibility for sanitizing the device before delivery.
The majority of our rehearsals between now and the state-wide reopening of the theaters will be conducted over face-to-face platforms like Zoom, Skype and Facetime.
Testing
Before attending in-person rehearsals and performances, all third-party hires and members of management will be required to receive a Coronavirus/Covid-19 Test. These tests are free in New York State. If you need help sourcing a facility that conducts such tests, we are happy to advise. Upon the receipt of your results we ask that all third-party hires and members of management report the status (negative or positive) to the Company. If someone is found to be positive for Coronavirus/Covid-19 they will not be permitted to attend in-person rehearsals or live-performances. (This rule only applies so far as to not conflict with HIPAA regulations).
Temperature Checks
Before attending in-person rehearsals and performances all third-party hires and members of management must self-report their temperature. If the person’s temperature exceeds 100.4 degrees they will not be permitted to attend in-person rehearsals or live-performances. If you do not have a thermometer readily accessible, we will have a touchless thermometer on location and will be conducting temperature checks in person. (This rule only applies so far as to not conflict with HIPAA regulations).
Mask Up + Glove Up
For our in-person rehearsals and live-performances all third-party hires and members of management will be required to wear masks.
When touching any props or commonly used spaces all third-party hires and members of management must be wearing disposable or sanitized gloves.
Bike + Walk + Self Drive
For our upcoming in-person rehearsals and live-performances we are doing LOCAL HIRING. The reason behind this is, we are requiring that all third-party hires and members of management bike, walk, or self-drive to in-person rehearsals and live-performances. Public transportation will not be accepted as a means of commute due to increased risk of contracting Coronavirus/Covid-19. While we recognize that this limits our ability to be inclusive, we have made this decision with respect to the safety and wellbeing of all third-party hires and members of management.
Liability Waiver + Bond of Accountability
Before attending in-person rehearsals and live-performances we will ask that all third-party hires and members of management sign a Liability Waiver and Bond of Accountability. This bond states that all third-party hires and members of management will take responsibility for their actions and, whenever possible, act in such a way that will not expose themselves or others to heightened risk of infection.
Survey
Before in-person rehearsals and live-performances all third-party hires and members of management will be asked to submit a survey consisting of questions about any potential symptoms they are experiencing or potential exposure to Coronavirus/Covid-19.
